Maine Tour for Dana

DON"T FORGET, YOU CAN CLICK ON THE PICS TO MAKE THEM BIG!

Yesterday I took Dana to Lubec, Maine, the easternmost point in the US and West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, an iconic Maine sight.
"Downeast Maine" is region unlike any other. Lubec is a charming, coastal town on the border from Campobello Island in Canada, where FDR used to summer. As we drove into Lubec. my iPhone beeped "Welcome to Canada! Turn off your phone if you don't want to get charged out the wazoo for calls", or something to that effect.

Lubec is on Passamoquoddy Bay, home of an Indian reservation and the highest, strongest tides in the US. The West Quoddy Lighthouse is still operational, protecting shipping from the rocky coast of Maine during frequent fog and big storms. We visited on a beautiful Maine day, highs in the low 70's and endless visibility.

Nellie's Birthday

Hey Everyone!
Nellie's 85th birthday was Tuesday, August 28. Dana flew up from Florida, and we had a great celebration. Mom wanted one thing; to go play the slots! Luckily, Bangor has a casino, which none of us had ever set foot in, so we all went. Mom wanted to treat us $20 a person, for me, Dana, and Marisa.
Dana bought us all a great lunch at the Epic Buffet! Later in the afternoon we all met at moms room for some pumpkin pie, ice cream and gifts.
